CalAid is a grassroots movement open to all, meeting the needs of refugees, asylum seekers and displaced peoples. We are ordinary people who act on our belief that all human life is precious and all people should be allowed to live with dignity and be given the opportunity to contribute something positive. Join us.
If you wish to donate or volunteer, please follow us on Facebook where we will continue to publish updates about our work and how you can help. We are currently sorting through huge amounts of generously donated items at our warehouse in Slough and urgently need volunteers to help us over the coming weeks. We are a group of volunteers collecting urgently needed donations for those living in the Calais refugee camps. We believe that no person should be without access to basic human rights like shelter and warmth, and by collecting donations we can work to improve these conditions.
The situation in Calais is part of a wider migration crisis in Europe - caused largely by the displacement of people from war-torn countries such as Syria, Sudan, Afghanistan and Eritrea. In addition to offering support and assistance, we hope to change the perception of this crisis from one of hostility and fear to one of concern and compassion.
This is a growing movement that is working to shift public opinion more favourably towards the plight of refugees across Europe, especially as it relates to humanitarian assistance and humane living conditions. As we evolve we hope to build a platform that can bring together like-minded British and Europeans.

To donate by cheque, please make cheques payable to CalAid and send to: Camilla Elwood, Prism the Gift Fund, 20 Gloucester Place, London W1U 8HA. Please include your email address so that we can send you a Gift Aid declaration.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the costs of gathering aid donations, warehousing, sorting the donations and shipping the aid. Since launching we have raised in total approximately £233,000. We seek pro bono services and gifts in kind to get the absolute most from donations. We currently hold three months' running costs to ensure we can reliably supply our distribution partners across the continent.
CalAid is operating as a registered charity under the auspices of Prism the Gift Fund (charity number 1099682). This allows us to gain gift aid and tax relief. Please do not contact Prism to enquire about CalAid's work.

It's also really important to sort and clearly label the donations, so that they can be efficiently stored and distributed in Calais. Please make sure donations are organised by type (keeping shoes together, sleeping bags together etc). If possible, even organise shoes and clothes to size. When you are loading up your donations, try to keep track of what is where so we can easily find relevant items at the other end.
CalAid is accepting donations. If you have items on the list above you would like to donate, then please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a drop off. We don’t publish the warehouse address online, but will respond to your email with a full set of instructions for delivery.
Your donations are crucial - they turn cold backs warm, wet feet dry and bring hope and comfort to desperate people. A big thank you to all who have held on to your donations until we could take them. Donations will be made by appointment in the coming weeks.
The best way to deliver your donations to the camp is to work through one of the established warehouses there. You can contact them on the following email addresses to book in a drop date:
The number of women and children in the camps has been streadily increasing. We are working with local groups to assess their needs and will develop targeted relief to help them too.
We do not currently have a postal address for donations in the UK.
To see if there are already any local drop-offs or collection points, central drop-off hubs, demonstrations or events planned in your area please check this map and click on the relevant pin to take you through to the local Facebook group for more details: http://www.refugeemaps.org
If you are planning to start your own group it might be helpful to register with refugeemaps.org so that others can find you.
